The Energy Department has submitted the final plan to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to reports, the following customers will not be eligible for this scheme and the eligibility criteria for Punjab Free Solar Scheme 2024 has been finalized.
- Consumers who have two electricity meters installed in their houses.
- Consumers involved in meter tampering, power theft, or using faulty meters.
CM Punjab Free Solar Scheme Distribution Plan
In the first phase, the government plans to distribute free solar systems to 100,000 households. Specific barcodes will be affixed on the solar systems to prevent them from being sold in the market. This initiative ensures that the systems reach the intended beneficiaries and are used for their intended purpose.
Punjab Free Solar Scheme 2024 Launch Date and Additional Details
The Chief Minister’s Roshan Gharana program is scheduled to start on August 14, 2024, on Independence Day. Households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month will get free solar panels. Additionally, households using 200 to 500 units per month will be able to purchase solar panels at only 10 percent of the cost, with the rest being subsidized by the government. These payments will be interest-free and spread over five years.
