The LHC Chief Justice Bans Male Staff In Girls Educational Institutions like schools and colleges. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum issued a clear directive: “No male staff will be tolerated where females are present.” This decision follows a series of harassment incidents that have raised serious concerns about the safety of female students.
During a recent hearing, Chief Justice Neelum expressed her dissatisfaction with the Punjab Police’s handling of these cases. She criticized their inability to prevent the circulation of a viral video linked to one of the incidents. Her remarks highlighted the urgent need for more effective measures to protect students.
Additionally, the Chief Justice addressed the issue of a recent suicide case at Punjab University. Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar acknowledged the police’s mishandling of the situation. He admitted that they had failed to file the required report under Section 174 of the CrPC.
Moreover, the court dismissed a report from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) as inadequate. This report came only after the court served notice. Chief Justice Neelum then ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate social media accounts linked to various incidents at educational institutions, including Punjab Group of Colleges and LCWU.
To ensure transparency, she emphasized recording students’ statements in the presence of their parents and university officials. In response to multiple petitions seeking a high-level inquiry into harassment, she formed a larger bench. This bench will examine the issue and investigate a fake video allegedly involving Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari.
Overall, Chief Justice Neelum’s actions reflect a strong commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of female students in Pakistan. Stay tuned for more information.
