The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a major announcement. Pakistan Cricket Team Appoints Rizwan as White-Ball Captain of the national team. This decision comes ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming limited-overs tour of Australia. With this new responsibility, Rizwan will lead Pakistan in the one-day internationals (ODIs) and T20 internationals (T20Is) on the Australian tour.
In addition, Salman Ali Agha has been chosen as the vice-captain. He will support Rizwan and lead the side in his absence. Rizwan will not be part of the T20I squad against Zimbabwe, which means Salman will step up to lead the team for that series.
Rizwan’s appointment follows Babar Azam’s recent resignation as captain. Previously, Babar faced criticism due to Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup. As a result, fans and experts had been calling for a change, and Rizwan seemed like the natural successor. Moreover, his consistent performances and leadership qualities have made him a favorite among the selectors.
Now, Rizwan’s first test as captain will come in Australia. Undoubtedly, he will be eager to carry the team’s momentum from the recent Test series into the white-ball matches. Furthermore, the entire squad will be looking to bounce back from recent setbacks and deliver strong performances under his leadership.
All eyes are now on Rizwan as he steps into his new role. Can he turn Pakistan’s fortunes around in the shorter formats? Time will tell, but the new captain certainly has the support of the fans and the team. Stay tuned for more information.
