The government may soon announce a reduction in petrol prices for the second half of August 2024. Reports indicate that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) is already reviewing the petroleum prices. Following this, the finance minister will review the proposal and consult with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before making a formal announcement. Earlier, on August 1, the federal government had already made a notable reduction in petroleum prices. The government reduced petrol prices by Rs 6.17 per litre, lowering the cost to Rs 269.43. High-speed diesel saw an even larger cut, dropping by Rs 10.86, now priced at Rs 272.77 per litre. Light-speed diesel and kerosene oil also experienced reductions of Rs 5.72 and Rs 6.32 per litre, respectively.
