Boosting Electric Vehicle Adoption
During a meeting focused on promoting electric vehicles, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of finalizing an E-vehicle policy this year. All relevant stakeholders will collaborate to draft a comprehensive plan. Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need to develop a robust financial model to support the production and adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister believes this initiative will reduce fuel imports and benefit the environment. By switching to electric bikes, students will contribute to a greener Pakistan while enjoying free and efficient transportation.
Expansion of Electric Vehicle Production
In the past two years, Pakistan has issued 49 licenses for the production of two- and three-wheeled electric vehicles. Already, 25 factories are operational. Notably, Pakistan recently granted its first license to produce four-wheeled electric vehicles. The company expects to release the first locally manufactured electric car by December this year.
Additionally, a plan to establish electric vehicle recharging stations is also in the works. In the capital city, E-powered public transport will soon be implemented. This ambitious scheme reflects Pakistan’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Stay tuned for more information.
