The Planning & Development Board of Punjab Allocates Rs 4.33 Billion For Model Bazaars In 13 Cities across the province. This decision aims to provide affordable essentials to the public. The project is awaiting final approval from the provincial cabinet.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the summary to be placed before the cabinet for swift approval. This move will ensure timely funding for the project.
According to Naveed Rafat Ahmad, CEO of Punjab Model Bazaars Management Company (PMBMC), these bazaars will offer goods at lower prices than the market. Currently, Punjab has 36 model bazaars in 24 districts, including 10 in Lahore. These bazaars have become a hub for entrepreneurs, offering affordable stalls for as little as Rs10,000.
The PMBMC initially requested Rs2.5 billion to develop bazaars in 10 cities. However, the project was expanded to 13 cities after further review. As a result, the budget was increased to Rs3.433 billion. The new cities include Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Narowal, Chiniot, and more.
With the support of MNA Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, the project gained momentum. Additionally, the Board of Revenue has already transferred land for these bazaars at no cost. This will help accelerate the construction process.
The PMBMC expects these bazaars to be fully operational by June 2025. Once completed, these bazaars will offer consumers goods at prices below the DC rates, providing much-needed relief.
This initiative highlights the government’s focus on supporting small businesses and providing economic relief to communities across the province. Stay tuned for more information.
