The Punjab Higher Education Department has launched a new initiative. This plan focuses on appointing Punjab Institutes To Have Only Female Staff For Women’s Safety. The action plan aims to create a secure and comfortable environment for students in both public and private institutions.
The authorities have already reassigned male staff members who previously worked in areas designated for female students. As part of the new regulations, CCTV cameras are now mandatory in all schools, colleges, and universities. These cameras will monitor mixed-gender workplaces during working hours to ensure the safety of female students.
In addition, senior female officers will carry out hourly checks to confirm compliance. In female-only institutions, hostels, and training centers, the replacement of male staff with female personnel has already started. CCTV footage will be stored for at least 30 days, particularly in areas like corridors or less visible sections.
Another step in this plan includes banning male cooks from working in female hostels. Similarly, the authorities have prohibited male security guards from entering these premises. They have stationed female security guards within the hostel boundaries to maintain security.
Additionally, they have allocated funds to install CCTV systems, ensuring these safety measures are supported effectively. All relevant institutions have been notified and instructed to follow these new guidelines immediately. The Punjab government hopes this initiative will foster a safer learning environment for female students.
