Punjab Launches ‘Maryam Ki Masihaai’ Offering Free Heart Surgeries for Children

The program, named “Maryam Ki Masihaai,” aims to provide life-saving medical treatments to over 5,000 children annually. This marks a significant step in the healthcare system, offering hope to families who cannot afford costly surgeries.

In the first phase, surgeries will be conducted at six government hospitals. Specifically, these include the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Children’s Hospital in Lahore, as well as the Cardiology Institutes in Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. If there is no availability at government hospitals, selected private hospitals will also provide these surgeries free of charge.

The initiative doesn’t stop there. The second phase will extend services to hospitals in Wazirabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha. This expansion will further widen the program’s reach to children in rural areas. Additionally, an online dashboard will be set up to monitor the program, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that she initiated this program not just as a leader, but as a mother. Her personal involvement underlines the compassion behind the initiative. Children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces will also be eligible for these life-saving surgeries.
