- Platinum Plates: Priced at Rs. 50 million, for those seeking greater exclusivity.
- Corporate Plates: Cost Rs. 100 million, designed for businesses to add a prestigious and personalized touch to their fleet.
Ownership of these vanity plates will be permanent, a move aimed at ensuring long-term satisfaction and pride for owners. To combat counterfeiting, the department has implemented strict security measures. They will also maintain a comprehensive database of all vanity plate holders to prevent any misuse.
In a surprising twist, reports surfaced that the scheme had appointed Mufti Qavi as its ambassador. However, Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari immediately denied these reports. He assured the public that no official appointment has been made. He warned that any unauthorized action within the Excise Department would face strict disciplinary action.
The controversy regarding this scheme intensified with the reappointment of Chaudhry Asif. Earlier, director of Motors Lahore, he faced severe backlash for gifting a VIP number plate to Mufti Qavi. The department considered the decision inappropriate, leading to Asif’s transfer to the Secretary Excise Office. Rana Qamarul Hassan Sajjad now serves as the new Director of Motors Lahore, marking a fresh start for the department.
