Saudi Ministry Announces Photography Rules At Masjid Al-Haram

The Saudi Ministry Announces Photography Rules At Masjid al-Haram during Hajj and Umrah. This year’s Umrah season, which began in late June, welcomes a larger influx of pilgrims than ever before. With 1.8 million Muslims participating in the annual Hajj, the desire to capture memories is palpable.

  • Increased Footfall and Order: With more pilgrims visiting Masjid al-Haram, maintaining order and respect is essential. Worshippers should snap photos quickly and avoid disrupting others. They should refrain from photographing individuals engaged in prayer to keep the spiritual experience undisturbed.
  • Swift Photography Required: Pilgrims must avoid lingering while taking pictures to ensure a smooth flow around the Holy Kaaba and prevent congestion.

Last year saw 13.5 million pilgrims perform Umrah, and Saudi Arabia aims to boost that number to 15 million next year. To support this goal, the Kingdom has implemented several measures to facilitate the pilgrimage.

The Umrah visa has been extended from 30 to 90 days, allowing more flexibility. Additionally, entry points have expanded, with land, air, and sea routes now available. The Saudi authorities have lifted the requirement for a male guardian for women, making the pilgrimage more accessible. Visitors with personal, visit, or tourism visas can also perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. However, they must secure an e-appointment to enter Al Rawda Al Sharifa.

In summary, pilgrims should respect the sanctity of the site while capturing memories of this profound journey. Adhering to these updated rules ensures a smooth and respectful experience for all. Stay tuned for more information.
